Gemma Bradley
Artist/Radio Broadcaster
Gemma Bradley, is a pop and R’n’B vocalist who has immersed herself in the highly competitive Irish music scene. She’s played a host of festivals including Electric Picnic, Stendhal, Vantastival, and was crowned the winner of Dublin’s Christie Hennessy Songwriting Prize in 2018.
She has been getting lots of love from national radio, such as BBC Introducing, BBC 6 Music, RTE Radio 1, and even spins across the pond on WPPM in Philadelphia. Her latest single, “Obsessed”, has been doing numbers on Spotify too.
She was part of Ireland Music Week’s Online Showcase 2020 and has done an amazing cover of Van Morrison’s “Sometimes We Cry” via Hot Press.
After less than a year presenting on BBC Radio Ulster, Gemma replaced Huw Stephens in the BBC Radio 1 family, presenting the esteemed BBC Introducing show on Sunday night. She will be leading the hunt for new musical talent in the UK.
Gemma had this to say about joining the Radio 1 team: “It’s a dream come true. I am a massive fan of Radio 1. And I can’t thank the BBC Introducing team and Aled Haydn Jones enough for nurturing and giving opportunities to new presenting talent.”
When asked about her time studying at BIMM University Berlin Dublin, she added: “BIMM taught me a lot, especially when it comes to songwriting, music business and of course networking, which is all really important! BIMM really helped shape me as a musician and as a young creative, and I believe I wouldn’t be where I am now if I hadn’t attended.”
She’s currently working on a live music project called Whiplash, hosted at Courtyard Theatre in London. Many talented musicians have been booked for it, including Cat Burns, Swim School, MIYA MIYA and Ellie Dixon, to name a few.
