Three-Month Experimental Filmmaking
The course is designed for students with some previous experience in visual arts, film or media who are passionate about their vision, who are self-motivated, with an artistic mind, strong communication skills and who enjoy new challenges.
You will explore alternatives to traditional narrative forms, strengthen your artistic output and your creative horizons, gain a collaborative network and explore the migration of experimental techniques into commercial forms.

This course is designed for students not shy of expressing their creative ideas and seeking to translate them into unconventional moving images.
In fast-paced workshops that build upon each other, you will deepen your knowledge of fundamental filmmaking skills and will be introduced to a variety of experimental techniques.
After working on short projects with professionals from different fields you will be assisted in developing and presenting a final, self-directed project.

Entry Requirements
Minimum Age: 18 at the start of the course.
This course is open enrolment and there are no entry requirements.
In order to get the most out of the course, you should be able to both speak and write in English to a reasonable standard.
Please be aware that we have a limited number of places available for each course intake and operate on a first-come, first-served basis.

Intro to camera and lighting
During week 2 you will be introduced to basic and advanced experimental camerawork and lighting in the studio as well as how to work with natural lighting.
Intro to sound recording and editing
During week 3 you will be introduced to sound recording and learn how to use soundscapes in experimental ways. In this week you will also receive an overview of the editing techniques involved in different film and video genres.
Video-Art
In this week you will continue to learn how to edit your image and sound material. You will also have a workshop in experimental video-art, covering research techniques, as well as filmic representations of body and space.
Super8 and Animation
A one-week analogue film workshop will take place. You will learn how to use a Super 8 camera. You will produce stop-frame animation clips on film. The finished material will be digitized so that you can further work with it, combining it with digital material and other found footage.
Entering the live visual field
During week 6 you are entering the live visual field, learning different methods and techniques to work with live video performance.
