Germany’s international film and acting industries

The film and TV industry in Germany is booming. In a prime position at the forefront of the global film industry, the country has laid stage to productions from all over the world.

Germany is home to over 736 production studios, and nearly a fifth of those in the Berlin-Brandenburg region alone. And when you take the generous amounts of funding available, there’s no wonder why actors and filmmakers from all corners of the globe choose to make Germany their home.

This is a country that’s hungry for film. Even during the challenging time presented by the Covid-19 pandemic, 42 million cinema tickets were sold. And if you think that’s a lot, pre-pandemic figures are even more impressive: a whopping 118,6 million tickets were sold in 2019 alone. As the nation recovers and the film industry bounces back, Germany is set for another fantastic year in film and TV.
