Andreas Hildebrandt

Andreas Hildebrandt is an experienced sound designer, sound mixer, and re-recording mixer with over two decades in the film industry. He founded and owned etage3studios, a respected sound design studio based in Cologne.
He holds a Master’s Degree (Dipl. Ing.) in Sound and Visual Engineering from the University of Applied Sciences and the Robert Schumann Conservatory in Düsseldorf. Alongside his studies, he trained in piano under Professor Wiesław Piekos. His early career included an internship with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra’s recording department, followed by further training at Knitting Factory and SoundByte Productions in New York.
Since 2001, Andreas has worked as a freelance sound designer, sound mixer, and re-recording mixer, contributing to numerous high-profile productions. He has collaborated with acclaimed directors such as Lars von Trier, Claire Denis, Bertrand Bonello, Arthur Harari, Nanouk Leopold, Pia Marais, Ulrich Köhler, Veronika Franz, Severin Fiala, and Fatih Akin. His work spans feature films, documentaries, and television, with a strong focus on immersive and innovative sound design.
As a recognised industry professional, Andreas has been a member of the German Film Academy (Deutsche Filmakademie) since 2006, as well as bvft (the German Association of Film Sound) and VdT (the Association of German Sound Engineers) since 2008.
He is fluent in English and French, further enhancing his ability to work on international productions.
