Nathaniel Fregoso
Course leader, Filmmaking
After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Television from UCLA, Nathaniel worked as an editor in Los Angeles for ten years, focusing on documentary filmmaking. This included reality television (Top Chef), behind-the-scenes shorts (Elf, Men In Black, Rambo), promos (Sundance), music videos (Matador, Cooking Vinyl), live performances for Weezer, Glen Campbell, Raphael Saadiq and, eventually, two feature-length documentaries for Academy-Award-nominee Laura Nix: Whether You Like It or Not: The Story of Hedwig and The Light in Her Eyes.
While working as an editor, Nathaniel started an indie band called The Blood Arm and began a career in music. In 2005, the band was discovered by Scottish-band Franz Ferdinand, who interviewed them in the New Musical Express. This led to a signing by French record label Because Music and extensive touring in the US, Europe, and the UK.
