Celebrating our most recent alumni at Graduation 2024

6 December, 2024

On Friday 29 November, the stunning theatre, Heimathafen in Neukölln, was once again host to the BIMM University Berlin graduation. This year, over 100 bachelor’s and master’s graduates from our school of music, BIMM Music Institute, came together with friends and family from all over the world to celebrate their achievements.

A celebration of Berlin’s most creative community

This year’s graduation transformed Heimathafen into a hub of celebration and achievement. The ceremony saw bachelor’s and master’s students celebrating their achievements across 5 different courses:

BA (Hons) Music Production
BMus (Hons) Popular Music Performance
BMus (Hons) Songwriting
BA (Hons) Music Business
MA Popular Music Practice

BIMM University Berlin’s Campus Dean, Robert Witoschek, and Head of School: Music, Luisa Lerma, were among the senior representatives presiding over the ceremony, which was attended by over 360 guests.

The ceremony also featured performances from graduates such as Eleanor Andristplourde, Kaheke van de Pas and Helen McDermott.

“It was incredibly exciting and inspirational day at this year’s graduation. BIMM University Berlin is such a unique environment to study in – it’s global, diverse and it truly feels like a family. Being part of over 100 graduates’ celebrations was a real honour. With their degrees, these students are now fully equipped to go out into the music industry and shape a career that reflects their passions and skills. I am so proud of each and every one of them.”

Celebrating alumni success from the BIMM University family

Alongside celebrating our graduates, we were delighted to welcome our guest of honour, drummer of The Murder Capital and BIMM Music Institute Dublin alumnus, Diarmuid Brennan.

In an interview with David O’Shea (Deputy Course Leader: Popular Music Performance) Diarmuid, shared his experiences of being part of the band. Having recently supported Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and three albums under their belt, the band are gaining a reputation as one of Europe’s finest post-punk acts.

For our graduates, this was a true testament to the opportunities they could have following graduation.

Our latest graduates took to the stage

Following the afternoon’s ceremony, we opened the doors to the public for our Graduate Showcase, which featured 11 different acts. The evening rounded off with a B2B DJ set by Simon Timm and Yannik Solandt.

“This was another wonderful graduation celebration. I really enjoyed congratulating our graduates and getting to know their relatives and friends. Seeing the graduates perform on stage after the ceremony is always such a highlight for me as Head of School – it blows me away how much they have grown as performers and music industry professionals during their time studying with us. I wish them all the very best for the future and look forward to keeping up with their achievements.”
